First day in Taipei... okay, now Hong Kong.

As I knew I would miss San Francisco, it didn't really hit me till the plane took off from the runway and the robotic hymn of the aircraft began. I shed a tear and began to select my soundtrack from the I-Pod. I arrived in Taipei and the excitement had me staggered. From the airpot I trekked to Taipei Main Station where Eric and I met up and quickly found a dim-sum lunch and caught up on lost time. I chattered with a jet-lagged stutter and found my second wind after the first pot of tea. As night fell mercury vapor lamps illuminated curious alleys glutted with scooters and packs of wild dogs. The sky was purple and the soundtrack of the locals in the neighborhood made for easy listening. The excitement was overwhelming as was the bitter heat. But time was running short because, in my hand were roundtrip tickets to Hong Kong that I bought 2 hours after getting off the plane. Eric made and offer that sounded way too good to pass up. He invited me to join him on business trip to the "Chinese Herbal Medicine Expo" in Hong Kong- so I did! Life in Taipei begins here...
